Social work is more than just a profession; it is a commitment to creating a more equitable and compassionate society. Over the past few years, my work through the Lakshya Foundation has been driven by this core belief, focusing on grassroots transformation and community-driven change.
My Objective: Creating Equitable Growth
The primary objective of my work is to foster an inclusive environment where vulnerable and underserved populations—particularly women and children—have access to the resources they need to thrive. By building a vibrant platform for social development, I aim to bridge the gaps in healthcare, education, and social welfare through sustainable community engagement.
Work Experience & Impactful Initiatives
Since the Foundation’s inception in August 2023, I have been privileged to lead and participate in a wide range of social initiatives:
- Healthcare and Well-being: We have organized multiple free health camps, providing diagnostic services to over 147 people in marginalized regions. My work also includes distributing essential homeopathy remedies to 110 families in slum areas and organizing grand-scale events like International Yoga Day to promote physical and mental health.
- Empowering the Differently-Abled: A significant part of my experience involves life-changing interventions for persons with disabilities. This includes the donation of wheelchairs, tricycles, and even the provision of artificial limbs to those in need, restoring their independence and dignity.
- Education and Skill Development: Recognizing education as a powerful equalizer, I have focused on vocational training and academic support. We provide regular sessions in English literacy, computer skills, and sewing to the girls at Panihati Gobinda Kumar Home to foster future financial independence.
- Social Harmony and Outreach: Beyond material needs, my work emphasizes human connection. From distributing 720 blankets to vulnerable populations in harsh winters to celebrating festivals like Durga Puja and Christmas with those in children’s and old age homes, we strive to ensure no one feels forgotten.
Looking Forward
While the journey has been filled with milestones—growing from a small team of five to over 50 dedicated volunteers—there is still much to be done. My future focus remains on expanding our reach, strengthening strategic partnerships, and implementing structured systems to ensure that our impact is both lasting and transparent.
Together, through small but consistent efforts, we can continue to create a ripple effect of hope and transformation.
